ABOUT US
The Golden Kangaroos Hornsby Concert Band is a vibrant community music organisation based in the northern suburbs of Sydney. With a range of ensembles, we provide meaningful learning and performance opportunities for instrumentalists of all ages, interests and abilities.
The goal of all GKs ensembles is to perform great music to a high standard for an appreciative audience. Rehearsals are supportive and welcoming — a place to make friends while developing individual and ensemble skills. Our repertoire is chosen from a wide palette of styles and influences, including wind band masterworks, show music, jazz, marches, and orchestral transcriptions, always with playability and audience appeal in mind.
We love partnering with other community organisations. In addition to our free concert series, you’ll regularly see one of our ensembles at community and civic events in northern Sydney and beyond.
Through our long-standing partnership with the Epping RSL Sub-branch and The Epping Club, the GKs provide music for ANZAC marches and services throughout the year. Our Marching Band is proud to serve each year in Sydney’s ANZAC Day March.

What instruments can I play?
Our ensembles feature a broad range of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion instruments:
Woodwind - Piccolo, Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet (Bb, Soprano and Bass), Saxophone (Alto, Tenor, Baritone).
Brass - Trumpet, French Horn, Euphonium (aka Baritone Horn), Trombone (inc. Bass), Tuba
Percussion - Drum Kit, Bass Guitar, as well as a variety of pitched and un-pitched ‘orchestral percussion’ instruments including: Glockenspiel, Snare Drum, Bass Drum, Cymbals, Triangle, Timpani, ‘toys’ (e.g. Cabassa, Woodblocks etc).
