Concert Band
The Concert Band is our flagship ensemble. Membership is for experienced and capable musicians of all ages. Rehearsals focus on tone, technique, ensemble balance, phrasing, musicianship and performance.
Concert Band’s calendar includes concerts, championships and community performances. It showcases a wide variety of wind band music including band masterworks, adaptations of orchestral works, stage and screen music, jazz and of course marches.

Concert Band Members can combine with Explorer Band members for tours, competitions and other performances.

A BIT MORE
Golden Kangaroos Concert Band suits people with previous experience of playing in a wind ensemble who are confident performers with a solid level of technical proficiency. Musicians of all ages are welcome.

Repertoire is generally chosen from grades 3 to 4.5, with the occasional challenge at grade 5. Concert Band competes in state and national championships at C Grade level.

As a guide, the technical difficulty of most instrumental parts is roughly equivalent to AMEB Grade 6 or higher.
Concert Band welcomes woodwind, brass and percussion players, as well as bass guitar / upright bass. There are limited opportunities for keyboard (doubling bass, harp, vibes, etc.). Some sections may have a waiting list.

Concert Band members may also join other GK ensembles such as Stage Band and Marching Band, subject to availability.

To help you decide whether Concert Band or another GK ensemble is the right fit, you are very welcome to sit in on a rehearsal and speak with our Directors and players.

Rehearsals: Tuesday night, 7.30–9.30pm
